Welcome
to the 2008 SDAPA 9 Ball City Championships!
These are some very important things to
know about this event. Please review this information carefully!
1.
Sudden Death
will be strictly enforced. Any match that has not begun by the time 3 hours has
expired from your match start time will be double points for each ball. You do
not want sudden death. Each of your teammates deserves every opportunity to play
a full race. Any team taking too long between shots, putting up players,
coaching, etc.. should be brought to the attention of league officials.
2.
There is only 1 time out per player per game regardless of skill
level.
3.
The first team to reach 51
points has won the match and will
advance to the next round. In the event of a 50/50 tie, the team that won 3 of
the 5 matches wins the match. We would like to start matches earlier than the
scheduled next round if at all possible, so if you win your match early, let the
tournament officials know what your plans are so we can find you when your next
opponent is ready.
4.
The 2006-2008 APA Team Manual is the official rulebook for this
event. Local SDAPA bylaws are also in effect for this event.
5.
Good sportsmanship is a must. Misconduct with tournament officials, other APA members,
staff or patrons of the host location will be grounds for immediate removal.
6.
Your official match start time
is the time written in on your score sheet regardless of whether your team is
ready or not. Have your players ready to go.
7.
The team certification form
that will be provided with your score sheet must be filled out completely and
submitted back to the tournament officials prior to the start of your second
match of the first round. Late
arriving players can fill out their portion of the form when they arrive. Any
player that is raising his/her skill level must notify the tournament director
immediately so that new score sheets can be printed. All players competing on
your team must play at a skill level that reflects their true ability and must
certify their skill level before they play.
8.
If you win your match,
double check the tournament board for your next match time. Each team is
responsible for knowing this information.
9. Accurate score keeping is an absolute must. Make sure you record and tally innings accurately and mark defensive shots whenever the shooter had NO INTENT to pocket a ball. Make sure your scoresheet is completely filled out including correct player numbers, wins/losses, final score, etc.
10.
Be very aware of your
surroundings at all times. It will be
very crowded during this event, and we don’t want to see anyone get bumped in
the middle of their shot. Bumps that involve the cue ball are ball in hand fouls
if you do not hit your object ball first and/or nothing hits a rail.
11.
The cue ball is always alive.
Do not touch the cue ball until it has stopped rolling. If you touch a moving cue
ball after making the 9 Ball, a foul may be called. DO NOT DO THIS!
12.
There will be officials on site
to watch close hits. Recognize
potential close hits immediately and ask for an official to watch the shot
before the player is down on their shot and stroking.
13.
Teams that cannot meet the 23
rule with the 5 lowest players listed
on their roster may play 4 players to 19. Teams that cannot meet 19 with the 4
lowest players listed on their roster may play 3 players to 15.
14.
Ineligible players are just that. They will not be listed on a roster and they are not
allowed to be involved in the match.
15. Common players in a match can elect to sit out and advance with the winning team, or they can choose a team with which to participate. If the chosen team loses, that player will not be allowed to advance with the winning team.
16.
A match that involves several common players that elect to sit out
will be dealt with case by case. Notify league officials immediately if there
are several common players involved in a match.
17.
Players playing on multiple
teams are not allowed to hold up a
match at any time. If a player on your roster is actively playing a match with
another team, you will need to put up someone else in your match.
Good
luck and SHOOT POOL GOOD!
