Captain’s Log, July 8th, 2007
Hope everybody had a wonderful 4th
of July. I will be out of the office and working at the APA National Office from
July 6th through the 14th. Lindsay
and Jill will be keeping things running
smoothly while I am gone.
The Summer Session is now entering
into the back half of the schedule. Players can still be added to rosters this
week and next, but you can only add players if you have at least 4 weeks of play
left. Players who have not paid 2007 membership fees can be added only if they
pay their fees. Added players who do not pay membership fees and do not play
will not be added. Added players who do not pay membership fees and play will be
marked as paid and the team will be marked past due for that player’s
membership fees. Past due teams do not receive bonus points.
Because the Summer Session is so
short, now is a good time to remind everyone about the importance of getting all
of your players the necessary matches to be eligible for the post season. To
compete in end of session playoffs, a player must have at least 4 matches played
with THAT team in order to be eligible to compete. New members to the league
must have at least 4 matches with the team and 6 lifetime matches in the format
they are competing in to be eligible for the Blast tournament.
Slots are filling up fast for the 9
Ball Southwest Challenge Tournament in Las Vegas in September. A flyer for
the event has been posted to the web site if you didn’t see it in last
week’s team packets. If you are planning on going to this event, you better
hurry up and sign up for a spot. We will be forming a waiting list for extra
spots for anyone signing up beyond our allotted slot count.
The division standings on your division
pages only reflect the points for the matches played. To see if any teams in
your division have a make up match to play, click on the link on your division
page that says “Division Standings-All
Divisions”. Scroll through the standings until you find your division, and
then look at the column that says “# of weeks played”. If every team in the
division shows 6 weeks played except for 2 teams that show 5 weeks played, you
can determine that those two teams still have a match to make up.
Speaking of make up matches, if
you have a make up match to do, now is the time to start working on getting it
completed. We do not allow make up matches within the last 2 weeks of play
without league office approval. If you need assistance in getting in contact
with the other team to schedule your make up match, contact
the league office as soon as possible.
A rumor has been circulating that
the SDAPA web site will be taking on a whole
new look very soon. We are here to inform you that this rumor is true. Mike and
Tara Kizer have been working with Jill on a brand new site that we hope to
unleash to San Diego APA soon. It will be much more user friendly and provide
even more information than ever before. I know, I can hear all of you saying
“but it’s already one of the best sites in the country, how could it get
even better?” We’ll just let you be the judge of the new site once it makes
its way onto your computer screen.
We are also always looking for
more pics to add to the site. Take your digital camera to league matches, load
them up on your computer and send them in. We love posting pool
playing action photos. Let’s show all those people who browse our web
site, and aren’t SDAPA members yet, what they are missing.
Have a great week and Shoot Pool
Good! Brian/Jill/Lindsay
