The SDAPA 9 Ball City Championships featured many very close matches that came down to the last ball. The semifinal match between Just Stroke It and Hood Racks left just about everyone who saw the finish nearly speechless with such an incredible finish. We are very proud of the sportsmanship that was displayed throughout the entirety of both weekends of City Championships. Everyone was a winner in our book.

We wish to individually thank everyone who helped out this weekend to help make this tournament a success. Karyn Horn, Kurt Manley, Les Spellman, Dodge Johnson, Jimmy Langston, Pat Barrett, Bill Wingo, Coach, Mac, Ken Marby, David Schmidt, Wendy Steinman and Lindsay Miller. Thanks also to the Hungry Stick for giving us the necessary space to conduct the City Championships. We are already looking forward to next year’s event, even though we are still completely exhausted.

Teams qualifying for Nationals receive $200 per player in travel money, 4 rooms per team at Nationals for the entirety of their event, trophies for the bar and each player, and we pay the $250 entry fee into the event. Each team also receives $350 in last place prize money when they register their team into the event. The 9 Ball National qualifiers will be in Las Vegas for 4 days and the 8 Ball National qualifiers will be in Las Vegas for 6 days. Go to www.poolplayers.com to find out more about the APA National Team Championships.

Nobody is qualified for the 2008 National Team Championships yet. The Summer Session is the first session to qualify your team for the City Championships. We wish each team the best of luck in getting their team qualified.

The Sunday teams were off this week for Father’s Day, so I’ll get back to writing about regular league stuff next week. But, I do want to take a second to thank everyone who shared kind words of thanks to us over the City Championship weekends. If putting on a smooth running tournament isn’t satisfying enough, hearing it from the players just emphasizes it for us. We thank you for the kind words and your continued support!

We have already posted all of the winners on our message board. Jill has posted the pictures of the winners on the home page of the web site. We’ll post the 2nd and 3rd place winners very soon.
