Captain’s Log, June 10th, 2007
Congratulations SDAPA 8 Ball
National Qualifiers! 5 teams will be packing their bags in August to compete in
the 2007 APA 8 Ball National
Championships. We ran 5 separate boards with approximately 13 teams on each
board, with the lone remaining team on each board qualifying for the National
Team Championships. Each board featured the top teams in the county each trying
to win 3 out of 5 matches to make it to the next round. Here is a list of our
winners:
Cavanaugh’s Lucky 8 (North Bar, Escondido)-
Captain Dan Shiery, Hector Rosales, Estela Rosales, Mark Shiery, Jorge Nolasco,
Jose Bonilla, Ryan Vester and Carol Iversen.
Pocket Gophers (Nice Rack, El Cajon)- Captain
Howard Leggett, Frank Vachlin, Nicholas Wageman, Timothy Houser, Dave Thomas,
Leo Gonzales, Neal Goforth and Dave Hayden.
Unforeseen Karma (Hungry Stick, San Diego)-

Summers, Zhi-Ren Liang, Jacqueline Mather-Hill and Pam McPhail.
Lightning Strikes (Five Points, Escondido)- Captain

Heffernan, Carey Ashmore and Steve Boyden.
Sticky Bunz (Players Sports Bar, San Diego)-

John Pasquarella, Kris Powers and Dave Callow.
Our sincerest congratulations to
each team. We would also like to thank the Hungry Stick for giving us a location
to do this event. Big thanks also to all of the referees that helped out this
weekend. I can only recall one match that actually went into Sudden Death. You
all did an outstanding job of keeping play moving, which contributed to such a
successful weekend.
We will report the winners of the
9 Ball City Championships next week.
Sunday divisions will be off next
week. Happy Father’s Day!
This is week #4 for Monday
divisions. All unpaid members will be dropped from your roster at the end of
this week. You may still add players to your roster, but if they are new, they
must pay membership fees before they play. APA does not allow unpaid members to
be on rosters after the 4th week of a session.
The
Triple Play Masters Division has finished up for the Spring Session. Nite
Owl #4 finished in 1st place by 15 points in a 14 week session. Nite
Owl #4 is Captain Marshall Chambers, Jeff Brauer, Gene Cardenez and Ian
Porciancula. Congratulations guys! 8 teams competed in the Triple Play Masters
Division last session. Each team competing in the Triple Play Masters Division
receives money based on finish. Nite Owl #4 is receiving $650 for their
fantastic finish.
The next Triple Play Masters
Division is set to begin July 7th. We are looking for more teams to
compete in this exciting and fast paced format. Triple Play Masters features 8
ball and 9 ball games with 3 players competing each week in a match. While this
is a Saturday afternoon league, the schedule is very flexible. There is no
handicap limit in this format. Contact the league office if you are interested
in giving this league a try.
Have a great week and Shoot Pool
Good! Brian/Jill/Lindsay
