Captain’s Log, May 14th, 2007
Welcome to the Summer Session, and
a whole new APA calendar year. Every team starts off tied for 1st
place with hopes of getting qualified early for the 2008 APA City Championships.
We wish each team the best of luck. The 2006-2007 SDAPA calendar year featured
over a quarter of a million dollars in cash and prizes paid out, and we look
forward to paying out even more this coming year.
The
Spring Session Blast is this coming weekend at the Hungry
Stick. Schedules for the Blast are posted. Not every team will be
participating in the Blast. Many teams will be drawn straight into the City
Championships due to the high number of Spring Session teams that we qualify for
City Championships. All teams that participated in the Spring Session playoffs
should double check the Playoff pages
to make sure they aren’t qualified to compete in the Blast or City
Championships. Several teams qualified to compete in Blast or City Championships
by finishing directly behind an already qualified team in playoffs.
8 Ball City Championships are June
2-3 and 9 Ball City Championships are June 9-10, both at the Hungry
Stick. Get your pool cues primed, it could be a very fun ride. 9 teams will
qualify for the APA National Team
Championships this year. We wish all teams the best of luck. We will have
the City Championship schedule posted to the web site very soon after the 8 and
9 Ball Blasts are completed.
Sunday
divisions start next week. Everyone else starts this week. Please note that
there will be no matches scheduled during Memorial Day weekend.
PLEASE THROW AWAY ANY OLD COURTESY
RETURN ENVELOPES. Postage is now $0.41 and the new envelopes that we provide you
have the new postage rate stamped on your envelope. Also, we moved out of the
UPS Store 3 months ago and some mail still ends up going there. That box is
rented to someone else now, so if you send your envelope there, it may never
make it to where it belongs. The address to mail score sheets to if you do not
receive a return envelope is:
SDAPA
P.O. Box 19848
San Diego, CA 92159
If you are not receiving your team
packets prior to your league match, please contact
the SDAPA league office. We do not forget to mail them. If you are not
receiving it, either there is incorrect address
information, you have not updated
your address with the post office or the mail got lost or damaged on
delivery.
Weekly team fees are $40.00. Fees
can be paid in the form of cash, check or money order made payable to APA. Teams
have 4 weeks to submit the $20.00 membership fees for any newly added members.
Your return envelope with score sheet, applications and league fees should be
postmarked the first business day after your league match. Bye sheets should be
signed and returned. There are no team fees for a bye.
We have a lot of new teams
starting up this week. Anyone matched up against a new team is encouraged to
help these teams get started. They will appreciate your assistance.
This newsletter is something I try
to send out each week to every team in the league. It’s an information
newsletter that is designed to help you gain a better understanding of
everything APA. Please share it with all of your teammates. We post them to our
web site for your viewing pleasure, also.
Have a great week and Shoot Pool
Good! Brian/Jill/Lindsay
